Kristen Kenney also known as KK was recognized as Utah's Top 30 Women to Watch for breaking down barriers as the first female broadcaster with the Utah Jazz and for creating one of the top fitness brands in Utah, PEAK|45.
She spent five seasons traveling with the NBA and broadcasting all 82 regular season games while simultaneously starting PEAK|45 in an effort to diversify her income. The studio has expanded to three locations in Utah.
Her television career has taken her all over the world from covering the London Olympics and the World University Games in Russia to hosting a Golf Channel show in Jamaica and a car racing series in Barbados. Kristen knows what it takes to succeed in a fast-paced, high-profile, high-pressure environment.
Prior to sports journalism, Kristen worked at PBS where she got the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to film a documentary in Africa. While in a remote village, she contracted severe malaria and almost died. This experience motivated her to Do Something. She immediately launched a non-profit called Malaika For Life and partnered with Malaria No More and the United Nations to raise over $200,000 with her 'buy a bracelet save a life' campaign. This became a global grassroots movement featured on the cover of ESPN Magazine, En Vogue, The Doctors, and more.
Today, Kristen's journey has led her down a new road. After spending 15 years in sports broadcasting, Kristen realized that opportunities for growth and stability were limited.
With financial growth and freedom as the #1 driver, she took a leap of faith and joined a real estate investment firm as Head of Investor Relations. She is responsible for company communications and brand marketing strategy.
Stay tuned as Kristen plans to launch something new soon that combines all of her experiences and talents.
